Medical Checks for Children (MCC) was founded as a Dutch based charity foundation in November 2005 by Inès von Rosenstiel a pediatrician and former intensivist. Prior to this (year 2000), Ines gained valuable experience when she worked with the German organisation, Bal Balika, organizing and carrying out medical checks for children in Nepal. It was this experience that helped her identify the need for MCC. An increasingly better insight of how the MCC could be of help developed, thanks to an explorative mission carried out by two enthusiastic scouts in 2004.
MCC focuses its efforts in preventative and curative areas. The medical focus is directed at the prevention of disease, protection from disease, treatment of disease, and promotion of good health. MCC offers general medical care to children from 0-18 years of age in schools and orphanages.
There are different organisations in the world that direct medical help for children. However, MCC is the only organisation that specifically targets children and their careers who have no access to medical help.
MCC’s vision of preventative and curative care is unique in this field. MCC believes that every child, along with intrinsic rights to life, love and freedom, also has the right to basic health care.
